Discover CardBuilder – Build Your Own Card

New service allows you to create the perfect credit card…

Consumers looking for a personalized credit card to better suit their needs should check out Discover Financial Services new CardBuilder Service. Similar to Capital One’s Card Lab  (no longer available), it offers prospective card members the ability to select certain terms, reward preferences and the card designs. “Providing customization options continues to be a critical component in helping people manage their finances. We understand that people use credit in different ways and are seeking flexible options that allow them to choose features that are most relevant to them,” said Anas Osman, Discover Financial Services spokesperson.

The Discover CardBuilder Service provides a streamlined application for quick, and in some cases, instant approval. Pick from 28 popular card designs and begin designing a card with the features and terms that are most relevant and helpful in managing your finances.

Applicants are asked to choose which of the following options is most important to them: low intro APR, long intro APR duration, low purchase APR, low balance transfer APR or long balance transfer APR duration. An interactive chart will display the best offers available. Use the interactive chart to create your own terms with some options automatically affecting others in order to balance the offer. For example, if a lower APR is selected, the rewards program may change. The rates for each category will adjust accordingly.

Annual percentage rate options include low introductory, low purchase, low balance transfer and the duration of APR. CardBuilder also enables users to choose which type of rewards program they prefer – cash rewards, airline miles or getting interest back for paying on time. Once approval has been made, your new Discover card comes with the same built-in features and benefits that are a part of other standard Discover cards.
