Discover Card has introduced a new solution to help you when you need it the most. Optional supplemental “Income Gap Protection” is a new income insurance plan recently launched by Discover that offers single or joint coverage for a monthly fee of $19.75 and $34.75, respectively. This new product allows customers to protect their income against life’s potential pitfalls and challenges. Small business owners are also eligible for Income Gap Protection at $23.75 per month.
Benefits of the plan include cash payments of $500 per month per person for up to six months in the case of total disability due to illness and up to three months for involuntary unemployment, to be used as the consumer sees fit. Unpaid family leave from work is covered for up to three months at $500 per month. Accidental death coverage pays the insured’s beneficiary $10,000 ensuring that loved ones won’t be burdened with unexpected costs.
